Winter Treeby DiComment: A good choice in subject matter, but to be effective, you needed to have an interesting play of light and shadow. This is definitely achievable with treebark, but you need a low sun angle to bring out the contrast effects. This looks for all the world like it was shot on an overcast day - the light is so diffuse that there is no sense of depth or drama in the image at all. To most viewers, I'm sure this comes across as a very ho-hum image, and I imagine you are being plagued by a deafening silence when it comes to comments during voting. |

Bridge to the skyby arpitaComment: Unreasonably effective. The angle seems a bit wrong though. I'd have liked to seen a straight portrait crop with the limbs vertical. Still, a stunning image. |

Freshness in Dasiesby trainComment: Wow, I am absolutely blown away by the power and impact of this image. IMO, a stunning application of Adams' tonal system to a still life. Simply beautiful. |

Faris' Pondby vtruanComment: Superb image. The deep dof gives it a feeling of majesty and scope. The last quarter moon is a huge bonus. Given the tree branches in the foreground, that's a quarter-million mile dof! I hope you don't get hammered on your decision to keep the color. My first 8 of the challenge. I'll be back later to adjust. |

Rock Formationby fulgentComment: Breathtaking and very Ansel-ish. I think AA would have found a way to include the water reflections as well. Very dramatic presentation, well done! |

Frosted Coveby JoziComment: The deep depth of field is wonderful but the way you clipped the horizon at the top is unfortunate. A little sky is very AA, you know. Still, a nice job. The detail in the reflections off the water is very pleasing. |
