Classic Beautyby jfaulknerComment: Nice selective desat, really brings out that deep cherry red colour. I would have tried to go with a shallowed DOF on this one if I were you. The red is a little distracting. G'luck with this shiny red monster ;)

IMG_2624-web.jpgby GeocideComment: Parts of the background are kind of distracting, particularly the door handly. I'm not completely opposed to a nice textured background (like the frame of the door) but I think the background is a bit too broken up.
The model is extremely attractice and her pose is fantastic. The only problem for me is the back ground. Maybe if you had more of the door or more of the right window. If you could find a wall in that flaky, rustic colour I would use that as I think you're on to something with that sort of BG. Nice shot overall.

.by saloonstudiosComment: Whoah. True emotion. I actually think this meets the challenge brilliantly and the technical execution is absolutely superb. Were you the guy who entered his first challenge with granular? The guy who blew the salt? I like the way you interpret these challenges and the emotion in this shot is tangible.
The subtle decision of the non-subject character (the man with the gun) is a brilliant take on this challenge. To take the life of another human being or not? I'm giving you a 10.
I was initially disturbed, but after pondering this shot for a while I realized what an excellent image it is. People are going to hammer this in voting as they're going to instantaneously lump it with the stupid suicide shots, this is in a different league to those...
Good work, mate. You were one of my few 10s in the challenge.

Which door?by zamboniComment: I like this, nice textures on the walls and door and I like how you've composed this. I don't know why there're watermelons on the floor but this could easily have been entered (and done quite well) in the surrealism challenge.
An 8 from me, I really like this shot. Good luck
EDIT: bumping up... 9

leaving homeby ursulaComment: Interesting conceptual piece, you've found an abstract (and beautiful) way to capture a classic decision which would otherwise be impossible to capture using conventional human subjects. I like this, although some people are going to (erroneously, in my opinion) mark it down for not adhering to the challenge and being, "just another dandelion shot," I like this... One of my few 10s in this challenge. Good luck with a tough crowd ;)

should I stay or should I go? by arngrimurComment: Well spotted. I pick this as a ribbon winner although I may be wrong as some people may vote this down for not fulfilling the challenge. Personally, I feel it does, and it is truly beautiful and well composed to boot. One of three 10s. Good luck!

Late Night Ride Homeby internerd2kComment: Wow! This is a hugely underrated shot. This deserved to place far higher than it did, I think. Bad luck - I would have given it a 7+ |

Which Way?by drake217Comment: There're quite a few 'which way' entries but this one really sticks out. It's pretty punchy and the colours are much richer than the others. You've also composed it quite well so a 7 from me. Nice shot.

White - "1.e4"by art-ineptComment: I don't like the glare, but you've chosen an interesting way to compose this. There're a lot of chess shots, I hope you do well.
Good luck. |
