Black and white might have worked nicely if the photo had some real lights and darks, but everything being equal, you ended up with a very gray photo. Also, I would like the point to have been in focus, but then perhaps it wouldn't have had the illusion of depth that it currently does. 5

A Sharp Point

I like it. The one yellow among all of the green and the one sharp point among all the erasers -- the fact that there are really two subjects vying for the eye is terrific. The pencils on the right are a bit out of focu and you're tilted a hair. I gave it a 7. I wish I could vote in .5's.

I re-looked at this photo at 10pm Sunday night. Good thing some of us are addicted to this site, huh? I originally scored it quite low because the idea simply doesn't appeal to me (actually for some reason it bugs me), but in reviewing my votes for the week, this stood out as one that was not really fairly judged. The lighting is quite well done. It's obvious that that was your intent and you deserve to be judged for the artistic merit. i particularly like the shadow on the pencil. I've changed your vote to a 6.
