Festival Artistryby L1Comment: It doesn't look like your model is resonating with the face painting! Great capture of that emotion. This is a perfect example of the expression, "If looks could kill ..." Maybe I'm misinterpreting. I have a friend who would say from time to time, "I sometimes have to remind my face I'm having a good time." Maybe that's all that's going on here. Still, nice emotive capture. |

Soaringby mrphrtqComment: Nice sculpture. It would be nice to see it in person. For me though, a photo of a sculpture is two degrees removed from some reality worth capturing. It would be like instrumental music about an essay. There's nothing particularly bad about this but the subject and the uplifting emotion it was intended to capture don't make it through two translations: 1) From reality to sculpture; and 2) From sculture to photographic image. I'm probably not clear and I'm new at this so just consider it an opinion. I hope you get other comments to give you a broader view. |

Married October Secondby Travis99Comment: Congratulations on the wedding. I have found that when a subject is deeply and personally interesting to me, photos of it seem better to me than to those not as interested in the subject. This photo doesn't hold my interest and the focus, DOF, comp, and exposure create enough distractions so that I move on rather than linger. Sorry, it's just an opinion. I hope others comment so you can have a broader view. |

Autumn Leafby hawkidaComment: On my monitor which I routinely calibrate, this is so dark that it loses much of the detail. I think if it were a bit brighter and a bit bigger,I would have scored it more highly. |

Portraitby HBunchComment: I've spent a lot of time looking at this. There's a lot going on here that conveys emotional impact. Why this partiucular location? Why the camo's? Hair looks wet, why? Shirt open, why? Attitude inthe eyes, what are they telling me? The whole thing looks like trouble and it's the unanswered questions that hold my interest.
Having said all that, it's propbably a pretty risky image for this forum. In this land of kittens and flowers, I fear this won't do well. I'm personally glad you took the risk. Keep shooting! |

Apriellaby connieComment: I have seen a picture like this before or it reminds me of someone, I'm not sure which. It is an arresting image. When I first looked at it I didn't score it very highly but when I try to think about what I would change, I can't really think of much. Either it's bad in every way or I should bump it up ... okay, bumping. |

Liquid Ambrosiaby ruffianComment: Very nice focus and choice of DOF. Colors and tones are good. Comp's okay. Would have done well in implied lines. Where it breaks down for me is the subject. If you are interested inthe subject, the photo will hold your interest. If not, there's nothing about the photo itself that will grab and hold interest. Just my opinion. Hope others comment so you get a broader view. |
