Some Day My Prince Will Comeby j8xmanComment: This seems to me like a "found" moment, where you happened to see the girl in a good spot and took the shot. Unfortunately, it's also a "lost" opportunity. The row of chairs and costume could have worked great if you had only taken it one step further: ask the girl to slump over with her chin in her hands and look directly into the camera with a sad, lonely expression. That would immediately communicate your concept. Then crop it slightly to lose the dark shape at bottom left and crop or clone out the stray leg at top right. Warm morning or late afternoon lighting would have added about a point to the score. As it stands now, I'd guess the dull lighting and lack of expression in a challenge that specifically called for it is probably keeping your average somewhere around a 5. Next time, you'll know. ;-) |

My try at a postcard.by Reedman18Comment: Wow... I'll bet you're getting clobbered over this! Not only is it presumably in the wrong challenge, but it's not even in portrait format, so it wouldn't meet the OTHER challenge either. That's a pity because the image has a soothing, painterly feel to it. A little more contrast in the background and a crop off the top to keep the horizon off the center might help the image (in an appropriate topic). |

Enterby JPRComment: Cool! One of your best shots ever. Seeing it here makes me think that you're either about to ribbon in the Free Study, or that you're a bonehead. ;-P |

Old Schoolby gocComment: What a great gym! Wish I could see a bit more detail. Maybe if you shot in overcast conditions or late in the day (oooh... warm colors!) you'd have less contrast to deal with. Still, one of my top picks. 9 |

Touchdownby L1Comment: Suuuuuure... seduce us with a pretty sunset. It won't work! I'm voting you all the way down to a 9 because it seems a little muddy to me, particularly on the right side. A bit more saturation and sharpening and you can go for the extra point. ;-) |

A Sunday Sanctuary: Post-Game Calmby CutterComment: When you've got a scene like this, how can you go wrong? Something odd about the color though... looks like maybe you shot in Adobe RGB and left it there? Never thought I'd give a 10 to an image featuring a half-dozen horses' rear ends, but there you go! ;-) |
