Am not normally a 'flag' person but this is a great shot, well perceived and executed and I'm sure it would tug at a few heartstrings, btw, the edited version is even better!

lol, you sent me to this as a 'not so good' shot but it still scored 5.8 ;) This fits the 'mother' challenge well and in an amusing way but the bench seems to take up too much of the frame for me and think the top of the bench should have been straight? Am not sure what lens you used but if its was not already wide open you could have opened it up and blurred the rather busy bg some more.

I wish there were some fotog comments/settings on this image and judging by one of the earlier comments its a rework but could not find the orig in your landscape folder. The colours are almost velvia like and the inclusion of decent fg interest adds depth to this shot. I really can't see anything wrong with this so spent some time studying it to come up with three niggles ;) Maybe the trees on the hill could be a little sharper? and if the lone wisp of cloud could be dodged slightly to increase its prominence it would help the image, now, if you could have chopped down the tree in front of the house it would look even better lol.

I love what you have done here Tim, great composition and as mentioned below this will be a cherished family shot. Photographically I think the bg is way too busy and I'd have preferred your sister with open eyes? The pose works really well and tells (me) a story of thanks on both parts :)

Great background, shadow and the light in the shadow is wonderful Sherryl. I dare to disagree with the comenters and their average of 7.22, regardless of if it was meant or not the vase and shells are not sharply in focus. The big point loser for me is that the image is cropped too tightly, a centemetre or so on the top and left would (imho) add to the image. I didnt vote on this but it would have been a 5 from me :(

Sherryl, you know its cruel showing me an image like this for critique! however, I like nothing better than being given a great shot to try to improve on.

When I first saw this shot I thought the main leaf should have more detail in it but am now thinking it would detract from the overall feel of the shot.

Keeping the square crop you chose I'd have liked to have seen the bottom left leaf curve comlete and maybe if there were enough leaves I think a 30% increase in the height of the image would have worked better?

Mind you, can you improve on a kodak POTD?

First off well done submitting your first shot (its difficult to do). Now you have submitted more do I really need to comment?

Titles for me are not often important when voting but if this were called '40' rather than what you chose I think it would have worked better?

Being honest its a rather bland image and worthy of its 4.7 ;) (my first was a 4.2:)

Hi Bill, the thumbnail of this shot is almost like a cityscape but for me the larger image doesn't do the thumb justice.

I think you got the lighting spot on (its not easy) but the focus is a little off. For me the blue bottle is the winner in this comp and thus should be more prominent in the shot. Leaving the comp as you have it I think if the lighter bottle and candle were more central in the 'space' you may have scored better. I'll not mention its not quite straight (doh!)

Of the 3 shots I've commented on this one puzzles me the most!

After a second take I understand the (subtle) framing but feel the dandelion would have been better if you utilised the rule of thirds more? another thing not mentioned by previous commenters is that although the bokeh is fine there is a lot of digital noise in this shot. The colours are very special here :)
