Beautiful tones and composition in this warm and tender image. Your choice of using a canvas texture works well for the challenge. That being said, I do prefer pure photographs. This painterly photograph processing exercise cheapens an image IMO. I'd love to see this presented as a photograph. My top pick!

John, you at your best with this photograph. The title and image work so well together. Jack Kerouac's novel "On the Road" comes to mind. Terrific!

Photography as a vehicle and not a destination is what I̢۪ve taken away from your essay. We continue moving forward, looking around corners, and over fences. This is a topic I̢۪ve considered pursuing. We use our cameras for discovery and affirmation. The end result is insignificant compared to the journey. This runs counter to DPC where an image and title is flashed before our eyes. Your camera helps you see in the darkness. It̢۪s your indifferent eye of truth.

Intriguing essay that I need to spend more time with before leaving a proper comment.

11/7 - Back to finish commenting. You seem to always find a way to challenge me.

Haunting opera, that could tame the wildest beast, sets a mood of resignation. In the first part of your essay one feels at peace. The reposed imagery of headless torsos and arms crossed eases us into your story. Then variations on face painting with red light. Revealing while taking away contours of an expressionless face. Never offering a clear and complete view. A visual experience from memory or wonder brought to life.

I̢۪d love to see little writing with your work so we could understand your thoughts. I suppose not saying anything, staying out of the way and not leading your audience, gives us the freedom to make the experience our own. I found this very interesting and I̢۪m looking forward to reading other comments.

Don, congratulation on the bling. You got a 7 from me. The bold shapes and delicate winding hose held my interest. Mixed reactions on the slight lean left. Doesn't hurt but does it help? I appreciate your choices which run counter to DPC convention.
