Oliver is perhaps the best guy with studio light on the site, so taking on one of his images is always a challenge, and for a shot like this the details are key. His light on the left with a touch of bounce to fill in the right side with the darkest part being closest to the camera made his shot spectacular. Here the even left right light, and the touch too much empty frame along the bottom come up a bit short. Still you got 90% of it, just not the touch of magic.

Part of the power of the original was that razor sharpness of the narrow depth of field and all the blur of the rest. While much of this image is a fine interpretation, the areas in focus and those that are blurred just don't make sense to me. The hand below the subject's face looks like it ought to be in the same plane as her eyes but they are vague and lacking in detail. I like what is here, but I miss the little details that ought to be in the frame.

A lovely graphic image that seems to share nothing but a title with the referenced image. Not sure how to score this.

On return, I see this not as a graphic emulation but a spiritual comparison. The subject has nothing in common but who is to say where another finds their freedom? Perhaps I am being lose in my interpretation because I happen to like the image.

Wow, quite an improvement over what I saw during voting. It is a bit nicer without the Sega Genesis green graphic along the lower half.
Lovely tones and complex reflections. The DQs are the fates bringing your score back into balance for the bad scores you got for the corruption of that day and a half. If you only knew someone on the site council who could make sure such things did not happen to your entries.

If this is not Lydia, amazing job on the toad. If it is Lydia, fair job. Either way well executed and angling the book in the frame is a great idea.

The sky is lovely, and the placement of the tree as if it were drawing in the clouds is ideal, but there is something about the greens that feels off. Perhaps a wider frame with more grass? I don't know but the bottom feel like it is over pressurized somehow.

Those two strong sheaves of grass at each side, the tree on one hand and the sun on the other, create so much tension on the edges of the image that they keep pulling my eye way from a pretty nice landscape in the middle.

I find the noise in the sky distracting, the cramped horizon and the speckled sky do not add to the lovely tones and backlight in the grasses, and the perfect placement of the flowers. Those are the simple things, but for me, their presentation was over complicated.
