I miss the bottom of the glasses, they seem interrupted.

Kit lens dreams of DPC glory (custom bokeh excercise)
by BrennanOB

Comment:
The point of the exercise was to use a cut mask (in this case a piece of cardboard with the DPC ribbon image as a cut out) to shoot through. The result of shooting through a cutout is that the "ooey gooey" of the normal soft circles of bokeh which is imparted by the camera lens' opening, is changed into whatever the cutout shape is. In this case the red, yellow, and blue lights would be normal soft circular bokeh if not for the mask.

Cows. We like cows. No more chickens.

I like to drop a comment on my top vote that placed the lowest and you have that unhappy distinction this challenge. I found the soft glowing colors and structure of the shot quite fine, and that sense of imminent arrival as the doors would part and the figure would emerge, quite well found. Sorry so few agreed with me.

Free Range Chicken

Comment:
The only thing wrong with this image is that it is of a chicken. The lighting is lovely, the colors are rich, the pose is perfect; But it is a chicken. Next to stuffed animals, few things are going to score worse on DPC than a chicken. Why we love seeing cows and sheep but hate looking at chickens is one of life's enduring mysteries.

Great capture of pure emotion in a challenge with far too little of that.

A much better image than entry. In free study, I would love this, but pastel colors are the essential for this challenge, and they are not strong enough here.

I do love these dual entry shots, I know they are hated by the general voting community and I wonder if that fact does not make me love them all the more.
