Love Don't Cost a Thing (Warner Bros. 2003)by nsbca7Comment: Greetings from the Critique Club...
Your entry is very interesting when viewed for a little while. Unfortunately, most people probably just saw the photo and just scored it and that could be why your score suffered a bit.
Personally, I would like to see more brought out in the pigs themselves, as they seem kind of dark maybe in levels or however. Your composition is good as it gets your point across nicely that they are 'in love' and it's free. Your focus seems spot on for the distance you were away from them and you resisted the urge to oversharpen which looks good.
Although the image is very nice and related to the title, there isn't really much in this photo that JUMPS OUT and grabs the viewer. I know you're capable of ribbon-material because of your past photos I've seen. Keep shooting for the challenges, I'm sure you'll get there soon enough. Good work. |

Very interesting shot. Anything involving a liquid seems to score pretty well and is visually appealing to the viewer.
Your composition is good, although I'm not completely sure the bottom 1/4 of the image is necessary -- it certainly doesn't detract from the image.
I do feel as though the background (the OOF part) might be a little bright and might draw a *bit* of attention away from the floating water drop -- which may have hurt your score a little.
Great shot, however, and a very interesting idea and way to show your creativeness. |

I'm not an expert on bokeh, personally, but I must say I guess the out of focus background does help the in focus object (the lens cover).
Your exposure looks great and composition looks great as well -- I like the positioning of the camera and the strap infront of it like that. I think it adds a bit of interest to the photo.
Overall, I think your final score suffered because it just doesn't stand out and grab the viewer as being something great and unique. Although for what it is, it's a great photograph, and, in my opinion, perfectly framed for a photo of a camera. |

Bubble Boyby megryanComment: I really like the shot here. My choice for a ribbon. The selective desaturation isn't really necessary here to 'help' the photo as it is the mood that you've captured that makes it what it is -- it doesn't take anything away though in my opinion either although it is just a bit distracting.
Great composition -- the crop is just tight enough to get a nice close look at the subject, and just far enough away to see everything that you need to.
The image has black, white, and everything inbetween -- a really well thought out image and very much deserving of a ribbon. Nice work! 10 |
