The Longing for a Greenhouseby TallblokeComment: hrmm, I think it's a matter of composition and lighting that affected your overall score. It was a great idea, I just think you may not have spent enough time thinking about the outcome as you looked through the viewfinder...sometimes you got to wait for the light to be right. |

Mantisby FyzarlComment: This is a great idea and great subject. Unfortunately, i'm sure a lot of people mentioned the blown out background...which is super distracting. If the background was a single shape, even if it was blown out, this would be more effective...and you could use it for your composition -- ie, your placement of what where. |

Sunrise at No Hands Bridgeby KekiinaniComment: This is a great photo and a wonderful scene. I think that in your composition, you somehow managed to include too much...most viewers are going to be a bit confused by the whole thing. For example, there is just no overall flow to the photo.
The water does draw me into the photo pleasantly, and the touch of yellow is really nice for some 'pop'...the repetitive shape on the bridge is also something I'd look to capitalize on if you can score another trip to this place. The fog rolling in (or out) is also a nice touch. Like I said, wonderful scene. |

Heavenly Viewby TheresaAComment: I know I'm not the only one to say this, but your border really takes over your photo. |

how I "Really" do those close-upsby AzCKellyComment: ***Greetings from the critique club***
I think this photo is really well thought out for this particular challenge. I don't remember seeing another one like this throughout the whole thing...and that shows me that you have a lot of creativity.
That being said, there would need to be something out of the ordinary about the photo though to make it really stand up. I think if you looked up 'color theory' and maybe read into that a little bit, possibly that could create a different impact to the viewer.
Compositionally, the photo is decent...probably like a 5 out of 10. And when I say compositionally, I mean the composition of the whole scene including subject placement and lighting...because lighting is an important part of composition. I think more lighting from the top would really bring a new dimension to the photo -- that is, bring out the magnifying glass from being just a shadowey object that just so happens to be a magnifying glass to actually being part of the scene.

Anyway, good work on the photo, and like I said, you have a great eye for this type of thing...keep shooting! |
