Worn Treasure by naomikComment: Great look on the old cover. I'm thinking I'd rather lose some of the white above and raise it in the frame or go with a long thin crop just below the dark areas at the top. Nicely processed otherwise. |

Helping handby lei_73Comment: Framing doesn't work for me. Maybe cropped up and in from the bottom left so the zipper lands on the left third line? |

Zip Me Upby PaulG13Comment: A bit perplexed by exactly what it is I'm looking at, but it would be better if the highlights weren't blown out on the right side. |

Z is for ....by adriano74Comment: Nice colors. Would have worked a little better if you nailed the symmetry in the framing. |

YKKby mrbig65Comment: Nice idea, but the asymmetry and areas of focus/out of focus don't quire work for me. I'd like to see the frame shifted right a touch as well. |

Crane Creek Sunsetby DamonComment: Critique Club Comment:
Overall impression is that this is a lovely capture of a beautiful sunset. Processing is pretty much spot on - great colors not oversaturated as some might be want to do. It's great that you got that bird in flight as well. Unfortunately, the sky is king in this photo, and while in other circumstances framing the bird or even the sun using the tree branches and the grasses would work well, with the sky as is it only serves to block more of what I want to see.
There's not a lot to really say outside of that. I think we sometimes over think a scene and want to use techniques like framing because they're available and not necessarily because we need them. I gave this a 6 originally because it was well processed, but would have likely gone as high as an 8 if the tree wasn't there. If I want to get critical I could point to a slightly skewed horizon (it's a tad lower on the right), and also suggest that you move the horizon line a little lower in the frame (think rule of thirds) which would add more of the gorgeous sky and eliminate some of the dead zone at the bottom of the frame. Even a 2:3 crop instead of the 5:7 you're using improves the lines a bit if you crop out the bottom.
