An In Depth View of Pecos Wildernessby brett2004Comment: Originally posted by brett2004: BTW, the compass is not the subject. The topographic "Truchas Peak" is the subject... |
That is exactly what I meant by my comment on the "heading"... That is an excellent shallow DOF. Too bad my entry was late... although most of mine are lost on the masses as well.

Patriotic Bear by Ian Hollemanby TooCoolComment: Well, If that is your first 'serious work' then I would guess that you just might have a few that didn't look this GREAT! If you are using equipment that is new to you then be sure to read the manual. There are often times the 'keys' to making great pictures that people completely over look. If you have someone helping you with the equipment and the programs to process the picture afterwords then ask them questions when ever you don't completely understand. (Then again you may be teaching them!) In any event I always suggest that people 'do' something they really enjoy & if you do you'll no doubt get better at it. A trick to good photography is to always use something attractive or appealing as your subject or make it so with your 'photographers eye'. Keep up the GREAT work. |

Cold, Hard Cashby mocabelaComment: Julia,
You sound like my twin with this,'...I'm a visual person and I do love rating;...the things I consider when I rate..." To that end I admire your ability to practice what you preach. I gave you an 8... I liked it!

Rose between two thorns. Ouch!by trainComment: I knew this was yours! I believe it deserved a better placing yet by my scores so far that's not a good indicator. Things are indeed delightfully nice in your part of the world. I'll find some of those Hamilton photos I took to scan one to show you what an 'unfair' advantage you have down there! I can't wait to see what you do with the Southern Cross! Does it make an interesting 'Star Trail'? |

Scrap Metalby C_Steve_GComment: I think you have done an excellent job on this challenge. When I gave this another look @ 8x6 and compared it to the competition, I gave it an extra point. The fine detail will be lost on many I think. Did you clean this part or was it ever even used? |

Harmony in stoneby RUEDISCHMUTZComment: I think you have done an excellent job on this challenge. I think I would have like the Hot Spots removed on the polished piece yet it does help define the texture. |
