A good idea, but would like to have seen it shot in a way I've never seen before - maybe looking head on to one of the bolts with the nuts and bolts all blurred behind. Just an idea. see www.comstock.com for ideas of composition.

Is this taken from a cell phone camera? The grain and noise is very extreme. If it's a regular digital, you may want to reduce the ISO to 80 or 100 at the very least. This also doesn't look in focus.

A couple of pieces of advice for submitting shots to DP Challenge (to get a score above 5) - it took me a while to learn this informaiont as well:
1) never submit somethign with the date -at the very least crop the date out.
2) if you're going to shoot flowers (personally, I like flowers) go right in really close and get some sort of interesting angle (there's one of a spider sitting right inside a flower petal that is cool in this challenge - as an example - I gave that one a 10).
3) People in the DPChallenge forums are always complaining about flower shots. They say flowers are boring and have been done way too many times. Personally, I like a flower shot if it's interesting - if it has something I"ve never seen before (like the spider in the petal). You may find you get lower scores just for shooting a flower.
Good luck in future challenges - I hate seeing people get discouraged by negative comments. However, I know it can be difficult to see a low score and wonder why.
For some interesting flower shots... visit www.comstock.com and search for flowers. There are some innovative ones in there that show interesting compositions.

It took me a second to figure out the opposites here. I know the title isn't everythign, but you may find your image will get higher scores if your photo isn't obvious in 3 seconds, then reflect what you are trying to accomplish/where you want to draw the attention - in the title. However, this is a really good photo. Just advice for the future. My suggested title - Orange and Green or Orange vs Green.

Very hard to see the boy in the distance. May have helped to move away just slightly to ensure the boy was not covered by the girl's hair.

If you're going to shoot something indoors, you may want to consider getting a reflector and doing something different with lighting. This one has a lot of contrasty shadows.
