This is an absolutely stunning nature image. DOF is great, even with the rear bird slightly out of focus. Lighting is fine. Focus and technical quality are top notch.

Two very minor considerations and these are probably just me: Add a touch more contrast and crop a bit off the left to take them ever so slightly further off the center of the image and convey the sense of flying toward the right.

This image transcends the challenge and will stand out as a great nature image after the "opposites" challenge is long forgotten.

Nice stop action and DOF

This is a stunning nature shot. The composition is excellent. The colours are very vibrant ans I like the shallow DOF. Unfortunately this image does not meet the challenge topic in any way, other than your title. Too bad.

Incredible capture.
05/18/2004 03:51:41 PM
what a captivating picture

Beautiful ibis!

nice pic not sure about being opposites??
05/17/2004 10:44:06 PM
WOW
05/17/2004 08:38:15 PM
Excellent

This is an excellent photograph in of itself. However, the theme of opposties is not clearly defined in the picture space (it is present, just not entirely clear.), and it would not be apparant without the aide of your title "Black & White."
05/16/2004 09:28:42 AM
Great stop-motion photo, I really like the colors and the two birds flying side by side. Good job!
05/15/2004 09:45:57 PM
Black and Whtie? Eh, I'll take it. It's a great bird shot at any rate. 9
05/15/2004 02:37:53 PM
Beautiful. But not opposite enough ...
05/15/2004 11:39:07 AM
nice action--very pretty nature shot--however not entirely appropriate for this challenge
05/14/2004 04:24:53 PM
Great capture, sharp!
05/14/2004 04:21:46 PM
Wow! 100% National Geographic! I'd love to have the fortune of being ready to capture a shot like this - great image.
05/14/2004 12:40:48 PM
I like much: The sharpness in a not easy to do shot. The beauty of the birds. The composition. The colors contrast (red - white - green)
I like less: The title. Black and white does'nt appear as the proheminent aspect of the picture.
Score: 9

NIce Birds.

great photo! more like similarities than opposites. Sorry. 5
05/13/2004 08:19:18 PM
wow , very nice !!
05/13/2004 04:36:48 PM
My complimenst on a brilliant capture, stop motion, in sharp focus, blurred background, appealing composition and black and white! Perfection would have had one pair of wings on the upbeat but fate has to be really kind for that!
05/13/2004 03:25:08 PM
Superb capture, absolutely razor sharp and perfectly composed...great work. As a singular image depicting "Opposites" as it's main theme however........dont think it works. sorry.
05/13/2004 12:34:24 PM
This is an awesome capture. The perfect wing placement for both birds is amazing. I like how they really pop out at you from the background due to color and dof.
05/13/2004 05:58:08 AM
What's that I smell? Is it a ribbon? Excellent shot.
05/13/2004 02:44:12 AM
This is a real neat photo. I gave it a seven. It does not, however, really meet the spirit of the challenge. Sure, there's black and white in the picture and they are opposites. But admit it -- this is a great shot of two birds in flight and without a title to remind us, I don't think most folks would see it as a study of Opposites. That said, it's a lovely photo and, as I said, I gave it a 7.

Very nice shot, but that's stretching it for "opposites". 6

WOW !! .. this is the most amazing picture I have see in a long time . not sure how well it meets the challenge .. but this is amazing .. national geographic cover material
05/12/2004 08:49:32 PM
Wonderful capture. Congrats. I love these birds! They are something, and so is your shot. Well done.
05/12/2004 08:07:53 PM
great job with this composition wish I was this good wtg!!
05/12/2004 08:05:21 PM
Wow! This is a GREAT shot. I love the nice sharpness and clarity of the birds vs. the blurred background. Exposure and saturation are dead on! Definately a 10.. :)
05/12/2004 07:45:37 PM
i love the dof on this shot..remarkable capture. 9
05/12/2004 07:45:28 PM
like the birds, but dont see the opposites
05/12/2004 05:36:33 PM
great shot.. even better if the far bird was as focused as the near bird.. but still a great shot... however without the title I don't think most would see that the challenge is met... and thats something I deduct points for (7)
05/12/2004 05:24:29 PM
Excellent pan job 8
05/12/2004 02:48:54 PM
Love the photo, but I don't feel it fits the challenge accurately. The black and the white aren't the focal points -- in fact, the two birds are very NOT opposite. Still, gorgeous shot!
05/12/2004 02:44:29 PM
Yet another gorgeous photo, great DOF and sharpness with 2 flying birds, looks like taken with mark II speed : ) 10
05/12/2004 01:01:37 PM
OHMYGOD! The best one yet! -10
05/12/2004 08:15:38 AM
Great capture of strange birds. This is a very good image but pretty hard to squieze into the challenge.
05/12/2004 07:54:35 AM
Seems to be a loose connection to the challenge, but an excellent shot. [9]
05/12/2004 07:43:34 AM
Very nice capture! Wonderful contrast and sharpness! 9
05/12/2004 01:38:45 AM
Nice clear shot. The symetry in this picture is beautiful.
Very impressive. 9
05/12/2004 01:17:05 AM
Great shot, just amazing well balanced colors, fabulous forms, a bit soft on the focus on the trailing bird, but dispite the title, these birds speak more of harmony than opposition. If you don't end up between a 7 or 8 it will only be because this can't be shohorned into the challenge, at least not up where it would otherwise belong near the ribbons.
05/12/2004 01:10:23 AM
Superb work. Clarity is so nice! the rear bird isn't quite in focus, but I'll forgive that. Lovely tones, too. 9
05/12/2004 12:58:17 AM
Very nice shot In my top ten for sure Good luck!
