Nice crop and composition. Image needs more highlights, this is basically midtones and shadows. Shadow on the right side of the frame adds even more to the "dark" feeling. This is the type of image that needs to be light and upbeat. High key would've worked well here. This feels dark, gloomy, and depressing.

I think the multiple light sources casting different shadows on the background a bit distracting. Skin also has the appearance of over NeatImaging. Perhaps having a single light source and standing much farther from your background would take care of the shadow problems.

Very simplistic composition but very effective. Best of luck to you on your entry and quitting the smokes.

The tangled branches of the middleground is quite busy but I think it adds ot the photo. Would've liked to see the leaf a bit brighter, perhaps by dodging it. The whites shining through the branches are what I find distracting.

Find, and Follow, the Right Path

Image appears a bit overprocessed. The trees in the background (and sky) are burned a little too much and the grass in the middleground is dodged too much. Contrast is too harsh. Would've liked to see the stream a little closer to the center of the frame as that is the only thing my eye finds interesting.

My resolution: to eat more fruit

Even though the fruit is in color, my eyes are drawn to the white areas of the photo. Would've been nice to see the fruit better lit. It would hold my attention better.

I'm not so sure the attempt at high-key is successful here. Would've liked to see a little more contrast. In my mind, high-key glamourizes things which contradicts with your meaning behind the photo.

Crop is extremely tight. Would've liked a little more "breathing" room, no pun intended. Focus also appears a little soft, even on the focal point. Try the unsharp mask.
