canon 50mm f:1.8 - handheld - slightly cropped - custom white balance

i had jess prop her foot on a book, and dangle a pack of smokes from a piece of thread i had threaded through the corner of the pack. the pack was spinning, and i timed the exposure around the spinning to avoid unwanted reflections.
white matte board about 12" behind subjects.

post involved masking, and slightly lightening the area under and to the left of the shoe. slight curves for added contrast. by using white thread, and slight overexposure i was able to almost completely hide the thread. a little clonign was needed. up canvas size for border. resize. USM. save as for web.

lighting was four 500w halogen shop lights all to left side of image pointing downward at 45deg, and a portable relfector under the camera. i tried to use the new 550ex, but couldn't properly avoid shadows.

This shot is a bit cliche, in fact there are one or two others in this chalenge with the same theme, but it is wellexecuted, sharp, and well composed. I give it a high score.

I love everything about this image. It's simple, to the point, says it all without needing the title. I gave it a 10

This is the best 'kick the smokes' shot. Maybe i would add a little more space on the left. Btw, if you don't want the smokes, send them my way =)

My favorite of the anti-smoking resolutions. Simple, direct, to the point.

Okay this image is both amusing and outrageously well executed. That earns you a 10 from me and a blue ribbon prediction. (please note, the only other time I ever predicted an image would win the challenge it did- see comment on imagineers landmark entry - so congratulations in advance :P).

Revised comment - having seen the other images I'm afraid I'm going to have to downgrade my projection to top 5 :).... partly because of a couple of incredible shots. But mainly because someone else took exactly the same photo - which will likely kill your originality vote. Still, a ten from me. great composition and lighting.

PS... I reserve the right to change my prediction once I have voted on the entire field - this is about the 12th photo I have seen.

even though there's another 'kick the habit', i think this is very interesting and well executed take on an extremely popular resolution. great composition and color.

Now that's a fun version -- definitely the best I've seen of the 'quit smoking' pictures yet. B/W would work better for it though, IMO

Nice work but I feel the light is a bit bright on the cig packet.

Very simplistic composition but very effective. Best of luck to you on your entry and quitting the smokes.
