Wrapped in glowing lustby shadeeuaComment: I'm not sure that it's a bullseye with respect to the theme, but otherwise, as a graphic image, I think this is just about perfect. I admire it tremendously -- great concept, design, and execution. |

Western Flairby slgardnerComment: Pose, expression, tonal control, and composition all really good, and the emphasis of the image is indeed on what she's wearing, which seems fashionable enough to me. Very well done. |

A Summer Sunriseby TammerComment: I like the simplicity of this, with the limited palette of tones and hues. Nice evocation of mood. Subject is uncertain -- my eye is drawn to the bright sun, but compositionally the ducks want to be the subject. Slightly oversharpened? .. haloes evident? 6 |

Sabrina at the Windowby lagavulinComment: Originally posted by subha: my only gripe .. is her hair .. wish i could see more .. highlights. Perhaps you could use PS's dodge tool, or use layers and use screen overlay ... I do hope you have not ... saved the JPG |
Not to worry, I still have the RAW file. I worked in PS layers to produce this from the RAW, but I did not make an effort to bring out her hair against the background. Another good trick, besides those you mentioned, is to produce an "overexposed" version of the image using the exposure controls in the RAW converter (I use Capture One Pro), and then selectively combine that version with the properly exposed version to bring out underexposed areas, effectively expanding the dynamic range. I agree with you that this is the weakness of this image, so I may invest the time to try to address it. |

The Beauty Love Left Behind.by jumpedthesnarkComment: Alas, art with an edge often does not do as well on this site as pretty graphics do. I had a look at your portfolio. Never mind the ranking on this one, you have a creative eye. Keep on doing what you do. |

The Beauty Love Left Behind.by jumpedthesnarkComment: Great title, and great reflection on the challenge theme. Technically good, maybe a little underexposed (loss of detail in the jeans). The contrast between her delicate hands and her marked belly is compelling. I think a good photo should tell a story, and stir emotion. This succeeds on both counts. Well done. 9 |

Mother and Childby SeanachaiComment: An arresting and very creative image. Striking contrast between the soft typical little girl and the spiky non-traditonal mom. Lovely soft lighting and subtle skin tones. Nice colour palette throughout. Effective DoF choice. There are at least a couple of comments on Beauty in this image too, and with her glare, the little girl seems to be challenging us to be open to seeing them.. Very well done. 10. |

Sleeping Beautyby DrakeComment: Of the dozens of photos of flowers posted in this competition, this one stands out as the best for me. Subtle and suprising colours. Perfectly exposed and sharp. Well chosen DoF, background, and composition. 10. |
