Nice find, I also would have payed a second and third look to this as you apparently did. The choice for high key is a good one, and the vignette adds to that but I agree that centered would be better. Also there seems to be a second car to the left, and per your title you might have cropped this out, since it is too much obscured to add much.

I like the determined look on his face, highlighting the necessity of this smoke. The second person is a nice addition, but unfortunately on the wrong side of his stare: the first guy looks to the frame, a little more on the left would have created more room for his view. But I realize you have to work with what is presented to you, and the light is beautiful here which is a great asset to your picture.

I'm probably too much of a nerd to appreciate this. But from what there is to be seen, all the interest is in the lower left quadrant which leaves the upper and right hand side orphaned - I'd try cropping them out.

That's a very nice picture. I like what you saw and how you captured it, with a beautiful BW conversion. Since you ask: I'd try put the vertical lines straight, that is truly vertical and see if the lens distortion (cushion) could be corrected.

2013 PAW - Week 5

The shots you posted have dragged us progressively deeper into the cactus. If you continue any further we might not be able to ever get back out again! Your background shows sensual colors and shapes, the stamen is a big contrast in texture, shape and "feeling".

Great creatures, insects. I like the even background without any detail in which the grasshopper nicely stands out. I recognize that the focal plane is slightly to the front, but I must compliment you on the catchlight in the eye. Did you use flash for this?
