Week 3: First Smoke Capture!by NeilComment: Nice, I have seen "coloured" smoke images before , which are also nice, but I like the subtle colours in yours. What did you use to make the smoke? I did some smoke photography (also for the first time) 10 days ago and battled to get a "thick" smoke like yours. I wanted to edit my image, so very different approach. I ended up using a cigarette. It was supposed to look like it came from a candle ... the theme was "Elton John song titles". |

anticipationby daisydavidComment: Not wanting to take away from your image, but I think the title is what really makes it :-). So clever. |

the-mandarins_0004by mariucaComment: Very funny :-).
I do think that you create too much contrast on the fruit with your choice of lighting. Especially the leaves; some parts are almost black, others green. I would have thought a more even light would perhaps have worked better (I think the figures as silhouettes work well). |

IMG_3801-fire-excapes-800by sfaliceComment: Odd isn't even the word for this one :-).
Sometimes you can't help but wonder what people are thinking, indeed if they are thinking anything at all!
That balcony definitely doesn't look "recreational". Perhaps it has something to do with fire regulations, that you need an "assembly point" every so many floors ? |

IMG_0558by sulamkComment: How lucky you were to see these birds in the wild. I can't even remember the last time I saw one. They have become very scarce I think. And they are so impressive and fun to watch, because they are always busy.
I wonder if you could get the image a bit "de-noised" and/or get some more sharpness in via "detail" (if you have such an option on your editing program. One of the Topaz plug ins offers this, but I am sure other programs have it as well).
... and I had not realized till now you were a fellow SAn :-) |

Aging Gracefullyby jomariComment: How clever, well seen. I thought this was an image of some leaves that was painstakingly edited in photoshop to give these lovely colours. |

03 52by salmiakkiComment: Oh Helsinki ... one of my favorite cities :-). I was there a couple of years ago at the beginning of February, expecting to see something like you show in this image, and we had almost no snow at all :-(. So dissapointing for a tourist like me :-). Hence this image is very nice to see, now I know what I missed :-). Really like it, but then I like abstract type of images. I love that "double" sky-line of the city. The whole thing has a VERY cold feel to it. |

African Jacana (PAW 4/52)by HarveyGComment: Great shot Harvey. The colours of the bird against the green leaves: so pretty.
My one comment is that it looks like you did some "funny" editing on that water lillie bud. It looks different to the rest of the image and, to me, sticks out. If you haven't edited it and that's what it looks like, maybe you should ;-)
