Space between by NeatComment: Another Anita signature--congrats! Such a dynamic capture, with such dreamy processing. You make it look so effortless. |

Hoze testing timeby toutoungiComment: Adding this one to my favorites. I'm sure the majority of the middling votes on this one derive from disagreements over the ability of a two-dimensional medium like still photography to adequately convey a sense of negative space on the z-axis. But I'm not interested in ruling on that. For me, the sense of movement/direction was weak in this composition, but the storytelling and literally everything else about it was so exceptionally stunning--up to and including the muted color tones and the inspired decision to leave (or add?) the slight off-balance tilt to the perspective, lending an otherwise candid moment an almost heroic verve. |

Summer hay operationby kanajComment: Originally posted by glad2badad: Caught the farmer on break, eh? Too bad you couldn't have caught this while the tractor was moving with a slight dust trail behind it. |
Actually, the tractor is moving fairly quickly in this photo, as far as a baling operation like this goes (notice the fresh bale dropping from the conveyor behind the implement). There wasn't much dust in this operation, though. These square balers just don't create as much of a cloud as the big round balers do, I guess. But these guys (and there were actually half a dozen more tractors, but I wanted to keep the frame cleaner to give more of a sense of space) were definitely NOT taking a break. :-P |

Adventure? This direction!by primabarbaraComment: This is a personal favorite for me in the challenge. I love the way the use of space in this image invites the question, "What are they seeing that has them so interested?" The storytelling possibilities are awesome. My only reservation is with the distracting "busyness" of color. I can't help but wonder if this is a case where a B/W conversion would enhance the storytelling. But that may be a personal preference. |

Upper Falls Viewby glad2badadComment: Meets the challenge theme beautifully, and a gorgeous capture on the whole. Unfortunately, the processing is a bit heavy-handed for my taste. But it's still a personal favorite in this challenge for me. |

Wide open by LevTComment: I think I would have opted for a softer editing aesthetic--purely personal taste. But in terms of addressing the theme of this challenge, this is easily my favorite of the bunch. It really conveys the vastness of the space in front of the subject and evokes awe and wonder. If only there was something on the horizon in the distance to serve as an exclamation point on the visual movement... |
