Blindness - José Saramago

Comment:
A well produced work, good choice with mono and the rain. I like the symbolism of distress/despair. I have a dislike for those eye prop things from overexposure to the zombie zombies, but they reinforce the story. Composition is good with good bokeh. Nice work.8.

"Please Sir, I want some more"
by Shifty_Powers

Comment:
An odd look, I feel I want to turn it upside down for some strange reason. The low key approach is ok, but the emptiness above the bowl leaves me feeling just that, not as an effect of the topic, but there is something lacking in the composition. Probably, because they are a man's hands you were without a boyish model, a low key face would have completed the picture for me.5.

Loved this book. Picked a hard one, got the reproductive reference. A nice cleanly executed shot, gives one a starting point and sets them adrift knowing they can work it out because there are plenty of avenues to take. I think you've done well, minimal is good.6.

"Airport" by Arthur Hailey (1968)

Hmmm literal to a T, nice and clear, so you're technique brings you up. Pretty much an on the surface interpretation, which isn't all that bad.5.

O Henry's Full House is new to me so I don't understand the cabbage (or is it a brussel sprout?), maybe that's the twist and you're being street witty ;). Nice lighting and focus on the green thing, I like this because it suggests a story, and that you understand what's there and did something with it (even though I don't have a clue). 6.

Symbolically there, though the novel deals with drought, the feeling of anger and angst is clear and the grittiness of despair. A tough one to portray I must admit.5.

Lovely in its morbidity. A good find, unless you carry one of these around in you bag ;) I think it connects with the novel wonderfully and has an artistic impact, good lighting and enough grungy detail to pull it off.8.

A pretty scene but I think sunrise or sunset would have had more impact with the more interesting light. Your composition eye is working fine, the balance is there.5.

Go tell it to the mountain ~ James Baldwin

Comment:
Well, thems mountains, and good ones. That connects physically but not on the social level of the novel - understandably bit of an ask anyway. Maybe a dark human silhouette raised in prayer or praise could have done it, maybe even just a hand? Nice landscape all the same.5.

Comment:
Ah the classic story. Got the essential ingredients there, though I'm fond of the half face mask myself, but props are props, the relationship is established. B&W is a good choice.5.
