Not enough here to convey the novel for me so I can't really say much.5.

In relation to the novel, looking at a single moment of horror from every angle and the type of crime committed by Kawashima doesn't appear here. If this is a type of allegory, then you could get away with a connection ;) I'll judge you on the latter anyway. Technically, a little overprocessed for me but your composition includes all the key elements to convey the message.5.

A beautiful picture, cropping most of the right side would maybe make it a little less cluttered. As Esperanza dreams, hopes, and plans are symbolized by a house I don't get that here, but I do get her introspection, youthful lamentation and a yearning (I suppose to leave Mango Street). A really good effort.8.

Comment:
John Wheelwright couldn't have asked for a better interpretation. An odd feeling of detachment and solitude, maybe abstractness as in the theological philosophical style. Good toning and clarity help the connection between image and novel.7.

Makes me dizzy to look at, but I kind of like that. Eerily inviting but the processing keeps distracting my appreciation. Mono was a good choice, I get the feeling of the WH era and gloom. 5.

Wodke Hawkinson's pun in the sun, I wonder how many get confused with this one. I like how the flare looks like a jewel around her neck. An odd expression on her face though, sort of caught in between emotions or trying not to smile. Lovely dress ;) 5.

Flora Poste's farm is looking good, nice sunset. As far as connection to the novel, it establishes the minimum requirements. As a landscape it is picturesque, a little unbalanced and dark on the left but makes me feel 'country'.5.

A great minimalist interpretation, a brave and successful attempt as well. I only wish the driver wasn't indicating going forward, rather if I was given the impression of driving away it would reinforce the title even better (but a minor point by me). I hope this is in the top ten if not top three.9.

Official deception, secret surveillance, and manipulation of the past by a totalitarian or authoritarian state isn't conveyed in this for me, looks more like a tv broadcast centre. But an interesting look.5.

Nice close up of the organ, not much connected to the novel that I know unless that is a Scottish organ produced by Russian businessmen, but I've only read the plot summary. 5.
