Face to Face amid inward splendorby SDWComment: I saw the thread about negative, umm.. constructive comments so, since I'm free for a moment, I thought I'd stop by. I picked this one because of the score.
The score mostly reflects, to me, a lot of people thinking you didn't meet the challenge enough. To get that many 4's on a picture that is in focus and not controversial usually means it lacks a strong connection to the challenge discription.
The lighting looks harsh with sharp shadows on the main flower and most of the other flowers are obscured. The frame is cluttered with things that detract from the beauty of the one bloom. A closer crop would have eliminated all of that. My suggestion is to look at the scene thru the viewfinder and ask yourself if something supports the idea you are trying to capture. If it isn't supporting it, it shouldn't be in the frame. |

Surprisedby BudComment: This looks artificially blurred. The grass under the branch on the right should be sharper. I'm not against ps enhancements but I do find them more pleasant if done in a less heavy handed manner. |

Ancient Grayby EvaanComment: a very beautiful abstract. I hope this isn't to subtle for everyone because I'd like to see it way up there in the scores. |

Jump!by sbeaumontComment: It's good to see that some kids can still enjoy the freedom of summer. The one in the water seems to be having a blast.
The composition is weak. The docks on the other side distract and the bridge is cut off at the top. Centered compositions aren't often very exciting. Moving left or right when setting up the picture can sometimes help to isolate the main subject. |

Cloud Puzzleby dahlinComment: One of my favorite things is geometrics and this is a good photo for repetition. This is more of a pattern picture. The only way to think of this as a frame is to consider each one as it's own frame and that becomes to much of a task for this viewer. |

'Hole in the roof where the rain gets in'by FalcComment: Had to go reread the challenge. It's a pretty picture and all but the hole in the ceiling isn't really framing the subject, is it? I like the picture and will give you a 6, but next time you better follow the instructions! geez |

The Kissby pawdrixComment: haha. This makes me feel like a peeping tomasina. I don't like that feeling so I don't think the branches add to the image. personal opinion, sorry. |

Conflicting Idealsby dpakohComment: I don't get it. I see the cross but it doesn't mean anything to me without knowing the context. |
