Golden Stardustby JunieMoonComment: I like the concept of this one. The score it got doesn't mean you shouldn't go back and play with the idea. Try using only one and two colors for backgrounds. All the colors gave it a busy feel, imo, not the layering of the crystal on the snowflake. What I like about it is the illusion that it's splashing in water. See if you can come up with a simple composition that brings out that aspect. Try different points of view. I'm thinking a little lower and angled closer to the crystal might be interesting. Try about 50 shots and if you can't come up with something more interesting, stop and move on to something else. This one also displays the centered disease. |

Black and White decisionby JunieMoonComment: Hi. If I could offer just one piece of advise for your photography, it would be to study composition. From looking at your entries, you seem to understand lights and exposure(even though most of your's are really bright, perhaps caused by post-processing?). What they suffer from most is the "centered" disease. I'm still in that phase too! But it causes the picture to lack excitement, if you know what I mean.
On this picture, did you consider what story the objects tell? Was there a reason to include all the vases? What about the tilted picture? So a second piece of advise would be to only include objects that support what you are trying to say. hth |

Art gallery 2 027_filtered.jpgby BrooklynsbridgeComment: Thia is a pleasant picture to look at. The composition is good, with the two groups repeating each other. It might just be me, but the border is a different color, more green. I think it would look better if you retoned the picture. That should bring everything back to the same hue. But then again, I think the picture is strong enough to do without a border. |

In my world...by ShutterPugComment: sorry you didn't find this helpful, or the other ones that people made a special effort to leave after you questioned why it didn't get a higher vote. Message edited by author 2005-07-04 00:13:26. |

"Are you ready for me?"by blancericComment: I liked this with it's flaws. Technically, I suppose the other comments are right, but visually, to me, this is a feast. The lines contrasted against the dots makes this so much more than a pretty picture. The rim light is enough to bring the bird out from the background. The toning is perfect for this study of texture and contrast. The only thing I would change is the weeds that are in the foreground. I bet this looks great full size. |

Future Lostby ilwilComment: It is well taken. The tonal range is very nice. The props are not overstated and the rain creates a moodiness for the scene. Technically the only thing I'd change is the orientation of the pictures. She wouldn't be looking at them sideways but want to glance down from time to time to see her lost baby without having to turn the album each time.
