I have found that a simple composition usually works well for water shots. Pare it down to just one thing and place that one thing in one of the rule of thirds position and you could have a winner. Not that I've ever won here, lol.

I like how the traces look like some type of fabric. I wonder if the hot spots are going to cost the picture some points during voting. It is a nice departure from the other pictures.

I have come to the conclusion that the reason I find foreground bokeh displeasing is because it disorients me. Two of the strands look larger so my mind says they are in front but my eyes keep telling me they are in the background so I don't know what to think.

Interesting. I can't see what it is. a leaf maybe, but what is causing all the ripples? I like it.
The noise, the mystery and the brightness of the water might lose points for this photograph in the voting stage.

nice try at the shot. The flash has caused some hot spots. It helps to have an off camera flash when attempting these kinds of shots. That way you can place it to the side and lower so not as many hot spots are made. When I did mine, I also had another light above and to the right to even out the exposure. It was a worklight.
Keep practicing, I'm sure you will have it perfected in no time.

with all the dark green in the picture, I was going to vote this as dnmc, but the flower itself dominates the picture and makes the background less important. So I ended up giving this a high score. It's very pretty.
