The street lamp illuminates the drain cover nicely. I looked at that first because it's the lightest thing in the photo. Then I followed thru to the kid on the bike. It might have been more clear if the photo had been taken a little earlier in the day, right around sunset. Then you could have adjusted down in ps so you could have more details in the picture.

I have the same type of problem sometimes. I get so wrapped up into the value of the object to me, I can't see how others will see it.
If you would want to try this one again, maybe get a little lower and closer to the plate. If that is a wood table under the plate, take the cloth off and let the wood show. Your lighting is good and the f2 should have been wide enough to get a shallower dof. I think the whole problem was caused because of the distance between you and the plate and because the point of view was more parallel to the plate.
