autumn walkby willemComment: I really enjoy photos like this that enhance the contre-jour impact with long shadows leading into the foreground. Nicely done. |

our final passageby oldbimmercoupeComment: A wonderful visual illusion of depth and perspective created from light and shadow on what appears to be almost two-dimensional subject matter. The title adds yet another dimension to the illusion. Bravo! |

VW Van Goghby wbanningComment: This is a a facade of items glued onto the exterior of an old VW van owned by a migrant hippie, pot-smoking dude who called himself “One Feather”. He used to hang around the beach in Santa Barbara, CA.
Here he is in one of my favorite challenge entries. You can see a bit of the van facade in the background:

Childhoodby ytshuvaComment: Wow! Fabulous light, subtle color toning, engaging expressions and emotion. Although we inherently know the subjects are interacting with the photographer, it comes across as an unknown, unsees subject out-of-frame. A sense of foreboding. I'm probably reading way too much into this, but it's really striking and keeps my attention. The presence of a mask on the chin of the girl in the center-rear adds context, too. Bravo! |
