So, unless my math is incorrect, it looks like there were a number of 2s or low votes. I was afraid of that when I did this photo. That people would think I took the easy way out by simply creating a repeating phrase.
But the challenge description stated "For this challenge, your photograph should include a repeating element or theme."
I wanted to do something different, so I started thinking of repeating themes. What do we repeat? And I thought of a child doing something wrong in school and having to write a phrase over and over on the chalkboard.
So, of course, I had to incorporate a cat. :)
I created the paper and printed it out and laid it on the dining room table. I hung the pencil on a string from the chandelier, and then hoped. Cleopatra was definitely interested. But she mostly just ended up batting it around.
I had the idea to have things hanging on the wall, but those looked dumb, so I cropped them out.
Anyway, about 130 shots later, I got the shot I needed.
I was so excited to see that, when she finally grabbed it, it was right on part of the writing!! Posthumous was sooooo right that I should have stopped the sentence at the pencil! Why didn't I think of that?!? I could have cloned out the rest of the sentence!
I hate that my table is round, so it made a bad horizon. That's been problematic before. But it is what it is.
Thanks for the comments! I wasn't trying to take the easy way out. Working with cats never is easy ;) |

Brilliant! I love this...the idea, the pose, and Cleopatra's somewhat defiant expression. It's purrfect. And I am so glad you explained how you created this image.

I am surprised to see this so low. I wonder who planted these 3 twos and 1 one. Strategic voting? I was one of your eights. |

Wonderful that you managed to do something more interesting that a simple repetition. Congratulations. For me it was #1
Is Cleopatra related with Moriarty? I was about to applaud him. So, tip of the hat to Cleopatra |

i like the title and am impressed that you captured this pose. I urge you to make a photoshop version where the writing is in pencil and ends at the pencil. |
