Like a llama...or an Emuby PedroComment: Obscure? I LOVE that song! I've been singing it for years, and they just recently started playing it on the local radio stations.
Cute bird too. Looks a little oversharpened maybe(?)
(but not a green dress, that's just cruel) |

envyby stormshadowComment: Yay! A subject that isn't as boring as the rest :)
Just a few minor technical suggestions. What's the blue line in the background? The crop seems a bit too tight on the sides... maybe leave a bit more space on the left side. Also, need more dof. It's annoying that most of the creature is blurry. Would like to see at least the front half in focus. This is a scorpion, isn't it? Doesn't look like a lobster to me *grin* Nice job coming up with something different from the majority of the boring neon light shots. |

Neon Reflectionsby biggood53Comment: Hi!
My biggest problem with voting on the neon challenge was the lack of variety. It got a bit boring to see so many pictures of the same thing. This photo isn't bad per say, but it doesn't have anything to set it apart from the others. The reflections in the water are pretty and do make me want to find out what's making them, but the main subject just isn't interesting. I'm looking closely trying to figure out what made you want to take this picture.
Technically, exposure is good for a night shot. Focus is good although the subject is really too far away for it to matter much.
I'm not really sure how to improve the shot and give it more "wow". I'd focus more on the roof shapes and lights maybe by doing a sort of abstract shot, but most voters have a love/hate relationship with abstract so it probably wouldn't score better. Maybe taking it earlier in the evening would give the sky some color and help the buildings to stand out so that the overall picture isn't so dark. Overall, average subject that was shot well but doesn't hold the viewer's interest. |

illuminationsby eikidigiComment: Mind telling me how long your exposure was? We saw some beautiful red and green lights the other night, but I didn't have my camera. We're trying again tonight if it's clear. Very strong color in this one. Focus on the bottom is a bit soft for stationary objects.. any idea what caused that? |

That's the Way the Cookie Crumblesby DiamondPeteComment: not a bad idea but the quality is lacking.. nice lighting. a little overexposed maybe.. but the biggest problem is that it isn't clear.. low res or lower end cam maybe?? |

Just Over the Next Hillby GringoComment: Looks like the Smoky Mountains from the Blue Ridge Parkway. I guess you guys have your own smoky mountains this time of year though. Lovely, warm colors. Great landscape crop. I'm too lazy to get up to the top of a mtn that early in the morning ;P |

To the Starsby RefractedComment: Gonna use this as your christmas card? It has the right colors ;P
Very nice shot. I'm so jealous. I accumulated months of stays in the cold north of Sweden when my boyfriend lived there, but I only got to see the northern lights once. It was only the green and nowhere near as beautiful. Congrats on the ribbon. |
