Dear Peter,

I was so happy of finding your critique! I really feel to thank you for the time and the attention you gave to my picture, and for your precious advises. I didn't know what a duo was! and thank to you, I just discovered lomography, or more precisely, I discovered the name of this kind of picture with that special atmosphere. Just had a little promenade through your pictures to know where the words I was reading came from, and I am honored someone like you took so much care to analyze my picture. You are right, I should improve my skills in post processing, pay more attention to little details, and be patient in obtaining or waiting for the best light I can get. Thank you so much.
There is something else I feel to say. Thank you for your kind promoting attitude, for expressing your appreciation for my eye and for the creative element of my pictures (this is such a beautiful compliment for me), and for encouraging me in doing more and better!
I guess you imagine how such a positive message can be encouraging for a beginner like me.

I hope I can discuss about photography with you in the future and ask you your opinion again.

Another thing. Io sono italiana :-) ! Sono in Belgio per lavoro! Ti ringrazio in italiano per la tua splendida critica e spero che le mie future fotografie ti piacciono. Grazie e a presto!

Ciao

Maria

Hi from the C Club

You asked for an in depth comment on your shot! I was one of your 7's in this shot and here is the reason why.

I liked that you thought out of the boxx in this one, it is just not the shell or the cup. you saw two objects and realized that they complimented each other. The round smooth curves of each of them lend the selves to this shot. There are several things that could have been done a little differently though that may have helped your score somewhat.

In post processing, boosting the exposure, brightness will have helped with the white that is a little grey here. Unsharp Mask would have made this a little sharper. I see that you ISO is very high and this accounts for the grain that can be seen. A faster shutter speed of more natural light would have helped this .

You did well with the shadows they are soft and inviting, well done!

First off welcome to DPC and congratulations on entering your first 2 challenges, its quite a step to parade your work to the dpc masses (we are a fickle bunch sometimes).

I didn't vote in this challenge but would have probably voted this a 4. I like the perspective, the bikes, balloons and the group at the table, but, as a single image its a little messy. Your focus is a little out for my liking and as another commenter mentioned this might work better in colour? Of course, I don't know what lengths you went to in order to take the shot but feel a closer crop on any of the 3 main subjects might have worked better.

That said, you scored a 4.8 on your first challenge so thats a full 0.6 better than me lol. Good luck for the future here at DPC and above all enjoy your photography!

Ciao Andi,

thank you so much for your comment! I really appreciate your suggestions and, above all, thank you for encouraging me. I hope that you will take a look again to my pictures in the future, and tell me what you think about.

Write to you soon!

Maria
