While this is an excellent picture of the textile, it is lacking the context needed to tell the story of the spirit of Japan. It really does look like it could be published in a magazine to show the detail of a Kimono worn.

What a great shot! The crop is awesome and it just brings you into the shot. Even though there is a lot of grey here, it doesn't look too flat. There are a few shadows that help the statues to stand out from the background. On the down side, the image looks some what noisy and a little bit out of focus. It could be because of using digital zoom to get the picture cropped and not using a zoom lens... but I am not sure.

Excellent subject and meets the challenge well. A few critiques would be it's a little out of focus, and the crop is a little tight on the plaque on the left side. Otherwise, the colors are great!

This is a very good example of using rhythm or leading lines to compose your photo. It is not such a good example of symmetry in composing your photo. There is really nothing symmetrical. Great photo though, the line of the feet leads you to the center of the photo where there is a person doing something. Also the exposrue is very well done. Perfect!

Took me a while but I think it is a fret board... I was tempted just to write it off as a 5 (which I consider average shot meeting the challenge), but the stopped motion over the fret made rethink and I see there is really some skill here. Nice golden colors created by the light and the field of focus is spot on in my opinion. Marked up for technical achievement!
