 Thanks for all the comments. I agree with Liberty that it would benefit from something more in the composition. But alas, this kimono was hanging on a museum wall, so I couldn't do more than photograph it as well as possible. I'm pleased with the result.

What GORGEOUS fabric! That's one of those things that can never photograph as well as it looks in person - not your fault, just the way it is. Still it really shows off well all the fine detail and elaborate design - definitely keeping in the spirit of the country of Japan.

While this is an excellent picture of the textile, it is lacking the context needed to tell the story of the spirit of Japan. It really does look like it could be published in a magazine to show the detail of a Kimono worn.

The detailing in this formal kimono is eloquently beautiful as is the story woven into it. A definite challenge favourite.

wow, that looks very heavy and expensive. Would have prefered to have seen a japanese woman wearing it
