Winter Sunset by mdiddyvComment: Nice HDR. Great lines in the clouds leading across the sky to the horizon. Nice foreground element with the snow covered rocks. The blue to orange hues are great complimentary colors. I think the snow is showing up a little bit blue and I think it could be a touch sharper using the high pass filter... |

Ruffled Feathersby crikComment: Sea-pigeons are a great subject. I like the cool blue color on this one. I think this could be improved with a longer shutter speed. You got the focus down ok. But I think you could have metered of the feathers on the breast, instead of off the blue feathers. The feathers on the breast are brighter and you would have gotten maximum detail with a shorter shutter speed by metering off the highlight area of the breast. |

Humourby bnileshComment: Nice soft light, very standard, conservative, portrait. The happiness does show through with the emotion and the brightness of the photo. At f1.8, the DoF was too short to encompass the whole face. In this situation I would have had the model turn his head to be facing the camera straight on, and leaving his body at an angle. That would have served to get both of the eyes in the plane of focus. |

World Chess Championship by whiterookComment: There has to be some great social commentary going on in this shot that I am just missing... only from the mind of greatness! |

January Sunriseby Judith PolakoffComment: I've never seen a garage shot with more beauty! Did you use a touch of the Topaz on this to create that painterly feel? |

From Russia with Lustby NeilComment: Lovely. I think the lines of the edges of her nose needs a little shadow to define those edges. It looks a little bulbous as it is. I am no expert, but maybe a little touch of the burn brush to create that edge?? Otherwise, a great portrait. |

Weighing Inby FtWorthphotogComment: I like the concept here. A couple of things to think about for the next one... I think the tub is too small to hold the child. His face is all scrunched because it is being held tight to his body by the edge of the tub. The shot seems a little top heavy and out of balance, because the composiiton is an inverted triangle shape. Perhaps shooting from a slightly higher angle would help these two issues. I also think the processing is a little dark and grungy for a baby shot. Perhaps changing out the background and the textured blanket to something softer, as well as using lighter clothing on the baby. |
