Nice soft light, very standard, conservative, portrait. The happiness does show through with the emotion and the brightness of the photo. At f1.8, the DoF was too short to encompass the whole face. In this situation I would have had the model turn his head to be facing the camera straight on, and leaving his body at an angle. That would have served to get both of the eyes in the plane of focus.
