Crystalizedby jegerComment: I knew there would be at least one shot of the ROM (only my second image I've voted on) and I really like your black and white work here! |

Hare's... Duckie!by codfish709Comment: Greetings from the Critique Club!
At first I thought it was part of the statue but that didn't make any sense for the challenge. I think the only reason you didn't score better with this picture is because the rabbit statues seem to be the main focal point.
The focus looks great, maybe a wider aperture could have been used to put the rest of the picture out of focus leaving the duck sharp. Also a wee bit of contrast added would be nice.
Overall I think this is a very strong image on a personal level, after reading your notes it makes more sense and shows the sentimental value that the voters would not have known of. I wonder if you got any strange looks carrying around this duck :P

Little Miss Muffet and her milkby theONE77Comment: Greetings from the Critique Club!
First Impression: When I first saw this picture I thought it fit the challenge well but might be a little out of focus.
Composition: The only thing I would change in terms of composition is to take a little space off the top, the background near the top is a little distracting. Little Miss Muffet is placed good and is sitting straight. It looks like it may have been taken on your bed and it looks like it has resulted in the bottle tilting slightly to the right.
Subject: Fits the challenge perfectly, a baby doll's bottle and Miss Muffet are both children's toys but are not related.
Technical: As mentioned in your comments your picture would have benefited from some contrast. It seems soft as well but that may be a personal choice. It gives a childhood dream quality to it.
Final thoughts: Ahhh you got beat up pretty hard by voters but don't let that get you down. Best of luck in future challenges!

MOOMMMM!! Billy chopped off Barbie's head!!!by snafflesComment: Greetings from the Critique Club!
Aww and so I return the favour with a critique for you! Memory jog - you critiqued my Fine Arts pic.
First Impression: I thought this was a pretty funny picture, sure there's some distracting elements in it but I still liked it and gave you a 6. Too bad more people didn't agree with me.
Composition: Some of your commenters covered it but there are a few things that could be improved. There's a strange white mark on the left and I think maybe the shadow of the tail of the helicopter? Also I would have liked it more if the ceiling to wall line wasn't visible, just all beige. But you're shooting up at a ladder so not much you can do there, maybe shoot more straight on so the line isn't diagonal?
Subject: You covered a few childhood toys, barbies, helicopters, ladders. Alright I never played with barbies.
Final thoughts: I judged your photo on the artistic side more than the technicals, it was under appreciated though by the masses. Barbie deserved it, says right there DO NOT STAND OR SIT, psh blondes :)
