Maturity's Sacrifice Feeds the Vigor of Youth

I gave you a 5 (mainly because of your out-of-the-box thinking... otherwise I probably would have scored it lower). I did get what you were going for somewhat. I'm not one who needs to be hit over the head with the idea as I usually get these "out-of-the-box" submissions. I just didn't feel you pulled off the idea you were going for well. Had I not read your post I never would have know the object this was growing on was a tree as it is just not evident here (it really looks like dirt). I think composition needed a little improvement. Perhaps shaving off a little of the bottom (particularly the right) to make it feel less centered. I know you felt the additional wood took from the overall impact, but i would still like to have seen it. It might have helped people understand what you were going for better. Finally, there just wasn't any "Wow" factor to this one for me. I give my highest marks to those I feel met the challenge and are still interesting enough for me to want on my wall. This just didn't fit the bill for me.

The Longing for a Greenhouse

Well, I gave you a three. Seeing only one plant in there I hd no idea this was a greenhouse first off. I thought it was perhaps a screened in porch. The title added to my conclusion. The foreground is very distracting as are the blurry gold streaks reaching into the sky (most noticeabel on the left). Lastly, it just doesn't have a strong feeling of adulthood.
