Forkby SimonkasprzakComment: I imagine that dirty forks are present in coffee shops, but this still seems too uninteresting and off topic to capture my interest. |

One Javanilla Please!by davidus428Comment: What significance do the names written on the side of the glass have? There are 7 names and only 6 straws, so my initial thought that this was to be split between the named individuals seems unlikely. My attempt to find a reason for these prominent elements of the composition overshadows my appreciation of the image.
From a technical perspective the foam and edge of the lid are overexposed. The straws, money and cup are all well arranged and the DoF is well done. |

Nut Brown Coffee Kioskby enticingComment: Taking this from higher above the kiosk with a fisheye lens might have helped to further accentuate the circle theme. |

enjoy a starbucksby chris_23Comment: The motion blur and color cast wouldn't be a problem if they looked like a creative decision, but the fact that the table and chair behind the girl appear to be in similar focus it feels more like a flaw. A crop which included only her face and the coffee cup might have made this more interesting. |

Oven Fresh!by richabhatiaComment: The focus seems to be sharpest on the plate; a deeper DoF would have helped to put both the beverage and the food in focus and render the background slightly blurry. The crumbs on the plate are somewhat distracting, but mostly because they seem accidental. If there were more crumbs they wouldn't stand out so much. |

under coverby enoc22Comment: Did you really mean to submit this image to the Coffee Shop challenge? It seems like it would be a better fit for the Your Corner of the World II or even the [//www.dpchallenge.com/challenge_results.php?CHALLENGE_ID=387]Complementary Colors II[/url] challenge. If this really does relate to this challenge, indicating how in the title would be a good idea.
On a technical note, this is a nice capture. Bouncing a little more light on the head of the lizard would have improved the image, but wild reptiles often don't cooperate with the camera. The DoF is good, and the contrast between the subject and the background is well done. Cropping out the brown spot on the leaf in the bottom right corner would have helped to keep the viewer's eyes from wandering out of the image. If this had been a challenge under the Advanced Editing rule set cloning out the brown thing behind the branch by the lizard's head would have been nice. |

Snow White Disasterby racbComment: Your model is cute, but this looks far too staged to elicit my interest in the intended narrative. Technically this is well executed, although a slightly slower shutter speed would have drawn more attention to the cup's motion. It might have been more interesting to fill the frame with a shot of the coffee splashing as it hit the ground (although this would mean saving your model for another shoot). |

Bulk Beansby ShannonLeeComment: This looks like it was taken in someone's home. Unless this person supplys a local coffee shop, buying even one of these bags is a strong indication that they have a problem.
On a technical note, this seems to have been taken using a flash, which has thoroughly overexposed the banisters, walls and stairs. The composition isn't interesting, and if not for the word "coffee" printed on one of the sacks it wouldn't even seem relevant to the challenge (and even at that, this doesn't seem to involve a coffee shop). Assuming that at least one of these bags contains coffee beans, a much more interesting image could have been produced by impressing the viewer with the sheer quantity of beans (a surface covered with coffee beans interrupted by a hand reaching out from underneath with a full cup, a broken piggy bank with beans spilling out, etc.). |

Berries and Creamby joezlComment: Without the title I'd have never figured out what this was. Without the cup, it would have been difficult to even judge the scale of what I'm looking at. I find the odd off-white color cast somewhat distracting. This might have been a lot more interesting if you'd have pushed the saturation much higher than it was originally rather than rendering this in B&W. |

A Day in the Life by TuckersmomComment: The freckles on the arm of the woman on the bottom left seem to contain the constellation Scorpio. I find this far more meaningful than any horoscope that I've ever read. I can't see anything wrong with this image, but there's also nothing about it that suggests that it wasn't taken by someone's grandmother with a point and shoot camera. |
