PaW7.jpgby CuttoothComment: The sharpness is OK on the focal area. It would have been nice if you had a bit more DOF to bring just a little more of those spines along the top into focus, but of course being hand held you probably couldn't have done that anyway! Crashedby quicheComment: It is a nice shot, and I only offer the below suggestions because you asked :)
Try turning the shot 90 degrees anticlockwise so the birds head is to the top and the wings are posed in more of a crucifix style.
Redo the B&W conversion, try it with different colour filters to bring the colours of the bird out more against the background, I don't know what your original colours are so not sure how well you can make this work, but from what I can tell there is a significant enough difference between the bird and wood to give it a try.
Try darkening the wood area, the brightness of the wood makes it more prominent than the bird which is really your focal point.
Don't know if any of that will help, but it's worth a shot! Message edited by author 2009-02-20 04:17:15. |

Edward Scissorhandsby cynthiannComment: This is a very nice shot, the light / composition / pose are all excellent. If I had taken this I would have been tempted to keep it back for Free Study! |

Spine, Web, and Hairby quicheComment: Great macro, really interesting to see them this close up. B&W does give it a nice abstract look. |

Week 06 by KenComment: Hard to tell this is a fisheye until you look at the curve on the roof of the house. Well done to get detail in the snow without making everything else dark. |
