We received 18 inches of lake effect snow last week, mostly in one evening. At some points in the evening it was whiteout conditions. Lake effect is when cold air blows over the warmer lake a creates snow. We had a band only 5.6 miles wide sit over our neighborhood for hours, so a few miles either way and you could get hammered or just a dusting.

Very nice use of the fisheye! (I just spent a few days with two guys who both had fisheye lenses - really fun things to play with!) The color pops nicely here against all that white.

Hard to tell this is a fisheye until you look at the curve on the roof of the house. Well done to get detail in the snow without making everything else dark.

Hmm like the pink contrasted with the whites and greys- I think it would have been super to shoot further down the slope and hide the house, but these moments don't always happen like that!

Hehehe...I like all the pink and her little face hidden.

Ohmygoodness! And I was excited today because we got a chilly gray "winter" day that dropped into the upper 50's. I have to say, I disagree with Quiche tho. Because I think the fisheye works great because just looking at your daughter in all that snow makes me a little dizzy and disoriented :) So the slight, but now unrealistic effect for me seems to add to the dizzying task set before her even more.

It's hard to get my mind around how different life is for people in my very own country.

Not sure the fisheye adds to this shot. Maybe get closer to your shoveler and shoot from an even lower angle?

What a snow! And, looking at your model's nice colored clothes, it's also very cold. Nice to see so much detail in the whites.
