Stand Upby maxjComment: I remember this photo and rated it high for being unique, among flower macros. I thought you had to use manual focus in order grab the stamens and not the petals. DPC generally isn't a good environment for macros, pets, or your children. Perhaps they are too easy, and voters perceive a lack of effort. Unless of course, that is what the challenge calls for.
You are getting better. You have graduated from the 4's to the 5's, and you'll continue into the 6's depending on your rate of learning and desire. Don't forget to photograph the stuff you like also. The challenges will make you stretch and learn by forcing you out of your comfort zone.
The excruciating part is after having reached a particular level, you'll still make a mistake and enter a photo you shouldn't have. Not a bad photo, just one you shouldn't have submitted. That has happened to me time, and time again, but I'm learning and making fewer of those mistakes. |

Spring Is Here!!by rexComment: Salsify or Goatsbeard? I think I would have cropped it to the other side since the light seems to be coming from the left. Nice detail, but seems to have a greenish cast. |

A Passing Momentby NinjaMomComment: I might have shaperned/dodged the eyes, and had her turn left just a little for more light on the face. |

The Old Daysby A VaryaComment: Might have cropped differently to move the screen into a 1/3 composition, both horizontally and vertically. With this head-on flat view it hard to tell its a drive-in theater, or at least that is what I think it is. |

Say what?by justineComment: Seems a little oversharpened and needs a lttle more DOF. I might have sharpened and dodged the eye, and then darkened the back of the head. |

Hay Feverby SJCarterComment: There doesn't seem to be focal point, or perhaps the weed in the near right center foreground is distracting. Might have raise the camera just a little to get the horizon at 1/3 for better composition. |

Hildaby ergatesComment: Another portrait I would have sharpened the eyes in the post editing. She looks very comtemplative. Nice capture. |
