Soft, soothing tree forms - nature in progression within a awkward, but fitting Formatfaktor.

Greetings, Janine, from the Critique Club!

I have NO idea why the score on this image is so low.

I like many things about it and don't like a few things about it, but... a 5.6? I don't understand that. *sigh*

The "bad stuff" first:

I'm not fond of the large clump of grass. I think it competes far too much with the subject. The rest of the foreground and background are so wonderfully blurred... EXCEPT for that grass clump. *sigh again*

I think you could have blurred it in post processing and been fully legal and fully amazing. :D It seems to me that everything is OOF in a glorious way except for the bird and the clump.

But, enough about the clump.

The colors are a tad bit drab. Maybe a pump up of them just a smidgen?

The good stuff:

Oh golly! The focus! Perfect!

The reflection... wonderful!

The crop... fabulous to show the scene and give us more of a feeling of where we are with the bird... but not too much area. Just enough.

Well done, Janine! Thanks for sharing this with us!

Greetings from the Critique Club!

*muttering to self* aw damn another HM...Oops! Hi there Janine! ;-)

Very difficult to find flaws with an image like this. Lovely b/w rendering of the innards of an old pocketwatch, and it works beautifully. Great lighting, dead-simple comp and it all works beautifully. ISO seems a little high, but you did use a pretty small aperture and for a stationary macro, an exposure that's not excessively long or short.

Otherwise can't find any nits to pick here! Which is a good thing :-)

Belated congrats on the HM and keep up the good work

Susan

Greetings from the Critique Club!

Geodesic domes are always fun to see at nighttime as they are invariably lit up in some way to draw attention to them. Composition is interesting with the silhouetted palms and then the huge colourful dome behind them. Not cropped too closely and seeing that this was probably shot handheld, very good for 1/15th of a second. The pic itself is a nice informal study of the EPCOT Centre, but there just isn't a real wow factor here to captivate the voters.

Hope this has been helpful
