Camouflaged-lizard.jpgby jomariComment by MelonMusketeer: You get some very interesting shots with your P&S. I keep one on my belt at all times for things like this, where the moment will be gone if I don't have a camera handy. This looks a lot like Chomp and Booger, the iguanas that I used to have for pets.

butterfly-003.jpgby jomariComment by MelonMusketeer: I agree that it's a skipper of some variety. It's amazing the number of different butterflies that there are when you begin photographing and identifying them.
You managed very good composition, esp where the one antenna is lined up with the stem beyond it. That makes it very easy to see the details there. This is a right nice shot for a P&S camera. |

No, it's not lame!! You did really well with this one! Nice color and detail in the leaf and the skipper! You can see all the fuzz and veins and even the stripes on his little antennae. I have a similar one in my portfolio. Not quite as sharp as yours. I just love their big eyes. They sort of make them cartoon-like. :)

butterfly-003.jpgby jomariComment by MaryO: It's a Skipper! Don't ask me which kind 'cuz a lot of them look rather alike to me. I get tons of them here in the summer on my Butterfly Bush and flowers. They're teensy but rather territorial, so periodically someone tries to land on someone else's flower and they do what looks like an air fighting demonstration before settling on other flowers, far away from each other. You got great detail on the little one here and it's nice to be reminded of warmer weather :-) |
