A magpie on my neighbour's fence. Magpies are common here, and can be aggressive to the point of putting eyes out in the breeding season. However most of them are not mush trouble, and can be quite tame. They can also learn to talk. When my father was a boy they had one which used to call 'Alvin, put down that axe! Which brought his mother running. I think it must have heard that a few times to pick it up!
sharpen x2, brightness/contrast, crop, healing brush on some bits, border, resize, stw.

Not at all like our magpies. It does look grackle-ish. Very cool!

This is an interesting shot to me because we do not have these where I live. They seem very similar to the local "gackle" which is all black, but about the same size and shape. This has to be a very difficult bird to photograph well because of the total black and white in it's feathers.
One of my pet birds was making the sound of a back-up alarm on the local garbage truck this morning.

Very cool! His expression looks intelligent; I have heard they are great mimics (which isn't necessarily the same thing). We have aggressive Northern Mockingbirds here which will divebomb anyone and anything that gets near their nests. Thankfully they're not as big as Magpies!
