This turned out nicely for your handheld issue. Those colors are dazzling and I like it quite a lot. On the 40D you can crank the iso a bit and get away with a shorter shutter speed. Also, you can go into burst mode and any little movement of hand or flower and that increases chance you'll get focus just right.

Yes, it could be sharper on the stamens, but you know what - I like it this way better. The softness adds to the gentleness of the flower. Nicely composed, and good color.
