Money, money, moneyby pdbartlettComment by smudgeSMJ: I would like this better if the shadow wasn't behind her, perhaps I would move the backrop further away from her body or use a fill light to get it out? |

Raindropby pdbartlettComment by pdbartlett: I thought it just about qualified as the table was being weathered, but never mind :)
At least I managed to get the background blur -- just need to be able to replicate it when required, now... Message edited by author 2008-08-05 03:44:25. |

Kitchen sink chemistryby pdbartlettComment by pdbartlett: Thanks for all the comments.
As it was shot at ISO 100 I suspect what people identified as noise was actually an artefact of my applying USM badly -- next time I'll note the settings so people can put me right! In retrospect I should have used bounce flash or lit the scene more, though, as a there were a couple of more interesting shots that suffered some motion blur.
The background was a worry to me when I was taking the shot, but I couldn't do much about it. The aperture was already wide open, though I guess if I'd moved in a bit there might have been an extra stop at the wide end of the zoom. Anyone have any tips for blurring the background with a Lumix DMC-FZ50? I've struggled to manage it so far :(
Still, 4.1 -> 4.8 is a definite improvement... |
