This photograph intrigues me. Most probably write this off as lacking technical excellence, but this really makes me think. The flash is harsh, causing the imperfections and the hard dark background to really be accentuated. The cute child is doing something so ordinary and yet the photograph is so unsettling. I like it!

A good solid image that is crisp, sharp and properly framed and composed - a technical success in every way. From an artistic standpoint, it is an intersting image but of less than universal appeal because it's more of a snapshot quality image.

Light appears to be from on-camera flash, making shadows harsh. Will make a nice family album memory, but could be improved for a challenge. Consider adjusting white balance and brightness to make the whites of the eyes whiter, and perhaps clone out the brown and black items from the background. Consider adding a diffuser to the flash, or, if camera allows, bouncing the flash off the ceiling (interim measures until able to practice with off camera flash).

That sky is wonderful! You did a great job at bringing out detail for the painting effect. I like how the flagpole cuts diagonally through the image, and that golden eagle on top is the perfect topper. A beautiful tribute to old glory :-)
