Intertwinedby JessiComment by rick13601: I don't know why I like this photo, but I do. It meets the challenge, good use of B&W. Simple, but effective concept. |

Intertwinedby JessiComment by Lutchenko: An interesting idea but I find the lack of focus on the main subject a bit distracting |

Sunset Lightby JessiComment by glad2badad: I was one of the 57 4's you rec'd.
I'm not probably one to critique this that much as my take on 'Backlighting' wasn't very strong either...however, when I was voting I took this description of backlighting to heart:
(from the challenge description) "Backlighting is the idea of shining light at an object from behind, or lighting areas behind the object you want to highlight. You can photograph anything you want, but the use of backlighting to enhance the photo is key."
Keywords of the description being highlight and enhance.
When this image first loaded I enjoyed the sense of fun and happiness about it. As far as backlighting is concerned I really don't see how this image is enhanced by backlighting at all. The subject is the person, and for all purposes seems to be a normal portrait type shot with a blown-out background. Obviously, JMO.

Sunset Lightby JessiComment by nova: Well your average vote by commenters is exactly 5.5 which is what you said you'd be lucky to get! For what it's worth I think that 4.2 is a pretty harsh score. |

Seeking Shelterby JessiComment by pawdrix: Originally posted by yanko: It looks like that person is taken shelter under a giant heel, which is pointed towards a giant hairy leg. Ok, maybe I need some sleep. |
I didn't see that at first but now it's all coming together. LOL. |

Seeking Shelterby JessiComment by posthumous: I love how your shadow figure is almost bissected by the light. I love the intimidating commanding shapes (well composed). I love the strange concentration of detail in the doorway, largely unrecognizable but somehow familiar. I love how the light has texture, like it was scratched in. |
