Just hang\'n out.jpgby wehrmacherComment by Germaine: Good capture and nice colors here. I was about the "say", this would probably be good in b&w. Then I saw you'd already done a conversion. That looks good, too! |

HardBody-1 Before.jpgby wehrmacherComment by citymars: Very good job on lighting the figure, but yeah, the backdrop pretty much wrecks the effort. Could a faster shutter speed and narrow DOF help blur the background? You may also need to put more distance between the figure and the background.
I also notice a lot of yellow in this image. It seems a natural color for the figurine but since the backdrop is also yellowed it makes me wonder if there is a WB problem.
I hope you don't mind the criticism, we're all in this learning thing together! |

Laura-revised.jpgby wehrmacherComment by TCGuru: Portratiure is a difficult thing. You must have light and shadow in certain places to keep the shot from looking flat and 2D. When you increased the contrast here, it made the hot spots on her face a whole lot brighter. A good way to increase contrast without actually brightening the image is add a layer of USM at 50, 50, 0 and tweak it down to where you like the look it gives you. You did a wonderful job of not getting reflections in the glasses AND I like the enlarged catchlights in her eyes. |
