Nice, simple composition. The center composition works for the sun, but the horizon is in odd position for me. I would like more sky from a personal perspective. From a technical perspective the placement of the horizon is limiting, and often works better on the upper or lower third. The color of the sky is smooth and warm, the sun is difficult because of the blown highlights. It appears that some of the voters found the image soft, but I suspect that is from the haze and the nature of the sun. Overall, I find the image pleasantly simple and warm, but was probably deemed a shoehorn by the majority of voters.

My first thought was, "that's not a Robin!" I Googled "red face bird UK" and wouldn't you know it; that's a Robin. That looks nothing like the Robin we have here in the US. Yours is much cuter. Look at that fwuffy wittle tummy... awe...

I wonder how many voters would have taken points off in the US for misidentifying the bird. It might not be all that many actually, since it's so fun to try to prove people wrong when identifying a species.

Very unusual POV (for a bird's capture), your entry was more creative, but this is also original and, with a bit cropping on left side and below, leaving the bird less centered, this could have done better in the FS challenge IMO
